Corporate Pension Governance Committee

 
Mandate:
The Pension Governance Committee (PGC) is responsible for oversight on all matters relating to the pension plans which City employees participate. 
Composition:
1 Director, Human Resources (Chair)
2 Members of Council
1 Chief Financial Officer
1 Administrative Law Representative
1 Administrative Leadership Team (ALT) Representative
1 Senior Management Team (SMT) Representative

Members are appointed as follows:

(a) the City Manager will appoint the Chair of the PGC and other PGC Members who are not Councillors and they will continue in office until removed by the City Manager; and

(b) Council will appoint PGC Members who are Councillors to the PGC and they will continue in office until removed by Council.

Administrative Leadership Team Representative and Senior Management Team Representative to be appointed for 24 month terms with option to renew term at the discretion of the City Manager.

Authority  Description Decision
1. 2003 September 16, APA2003-53(a). CEO Stanway established the Pension Governance Committee (PGC). Reporting structure established so that the appropriate legal, fiduciary and compensation requirements have been fulfilled with respect to The City's pension plans.
2. 2003 September 29, Notice of Motion: Compensation and Pension Policy (Mayor Bronconnier). Council Policy CC031. Resolution to appoint two members of Council to the Corporate Pension Governance Committee (A Committee of the Administration). Direction for the Committee to report annually through APAC to City Council.
3. 2003 October, Organizational Meeting Appointment of 2 Members of Council
4. 2004 March 09, APA2004-19b. Corporate Pension Governance Committee Management Update to Council. Recommends that the Corporate Pension Governance Committee should remain a committee of the Administration, that reports to APAC through the CEO.
5. 2004 June 21, C2004-28. That Britt Wilson be appointed as The City Administration representative to the LAPP Board of Trustees, and that Britt Wilson provide reports to the Corporate Pension Governance Committee.
