Combative Sports Commission

The purpose of the Calgary Combative Sports Commission is to regulate, govern and control professional combative sporting events and contestants within the City of Calgary. The Calgary Combative Sports Commission will publish rules governing the conduct of these events.

Chief Licence Inspector Designate (non-voting)

(a) a promoter, or a promoter within one year prior to application to become a member
(b) a contestant, or a contestant within one year prior to application to become a member,
(c) an agent or manager, or an agent or manager within one year prior to application to become a member,
(d) a trainer or coach of contestants, or a trainer or coach of contestants within one year prior to application to become a member,
(e) a member of the Licence and Community Standards Appeal Board of The City of Calgary, or
(f) an immediate relative of any person who is not eligible pursuant to this Section.
2 year term

- A member may serve a maximum of six consecutive years.
- Despite the above, a member may serve until his or her successor is appointed. The service of a member beyond the appointed term shall not count toward the limit on the length of service set out above if the additional service is one year or less.
- When an appointment is made to fill a member vacancy:
  o If the balance of the term to be served is one year or less, that service shall not count toward the limit on the length of service; and
  o If the balance of the term to be served is more than one year, that service shall count toward the limit on the length of service.
- A member may serve more than six consecutive years by a two-thirds vote of Council.

to a Combative Sports Event for which a licence is sought

13. 2006 November 13, CPS2006-64 and Bylaw 53M2006 Effective 2007 March 01 the Boxing and Wrestling Commission will be renamed the Combative Sports Committee to Sanction and Monitor Combative Sports Events.

15. 2007 February 26, N2007-10 Four members confirmed. Three additional public members will be recruited through newspaper advertisements. Adoption of a Statutory Declaration form as part of the application process for new Commission Members.
16. 2007 March 01, Bylaw 53M2006, to establish the Combative Sports Commission comes into force. The Boxing and Wrestling Commission was renamed the Combative Sports Commission. In 2007, Council appointed members for one (1) year only, and requested that Administration report back with recommendations on a go forward basis for the Commission.
