Inter-Municipal Committee - Foothills

 
Mandate:
To facilitate the working relationship between the two municipalities, the ongoing sharing of information between elected officials and municipal staff, and to provide a forum in which to review and comment on a range of topics of interest to both municipalities. 
Composition:
up to a maximum of three (3) Elected Representatives of the City of Calgary
up to a maximum of three (3) Elected Representatives of the MD of Foothills

Only elected representatives of the MD of Foothills and The City of Calgary are considered Committee members.
Each municipality provides staff to support the work of the Committee; however, staff are not considered Committee members.

On an issue-specific basis, the Committee may request discussions to include elected officials and staff from member municipalities or other jurisdictions, as well as consultants, as deemed appropriate.

Meetings will be chaired by an elected City representative when the meetings are held at an MD location, and chaired by an elected MD representative when held at a City location. Co-chairs should be appointed by the Committee at the first Committee meeting after each municipality holds their respective organizational meetings.

Authority  Description Decision
1. 1995 September 25, E95-21 Adoption of Terms of Reference.
2. 2003 September 08, AGS2003-43 Recommended that IGA's mandate be expanded to encompass the mandates and absorb all past and present Inter-Municipal Committees.
3. 2010 April 26, IGA2010-17 Rescinds the current Terms of Reference and adopts new Terms of Reference.
4. 2013 October 21, Bylaw 40M2011 coming into force To discontinue the use of the title "Alderman" in favour of the title "Councillor".
5. 2017 July 24, IGA2017-0540 Approval of revised Terms of Reference. The revised TOR is intended to better align with the recently approved City of Calgary/Municipal District of Foothills Intermunicipal Development. It more accurately describes the current roles and functions of the IMC and its members. The IMC has reviewed and jointly agreed upon the new proposed Terms of Reference.
