Calgary Regional Partnership

The objects for which the Calgary Regional Partnership is established are as follows:
(a) to protect the natural environments and promote sustainable environments within the municipalities and jurisdictions participating in the Association (the "Region");
(b) to enhance regional economic prosperity within the Region;
(c) to accommodate growth in more compact settlement patterns within the Region;
(d) to integrate efficient infrastructure systems within the Region;
(e) to foster inter-municipal collaboration within the Region while supporting each local municipality's capacity, autonomy and efforts; and
(f) to act as a resource and assist various organizations involved in the delivery of services within the Region including, without limiting the generality of the foregoing, growth management and planning, designing regional emergency response systems, developing water strategies, implementation of waste management plans, development of economic strategies and framework, development of transportation plans, development of geographic information systems, development of communications strategies, development of a protocol for presentation of issues to federal and provincial governments and development of governance and implementation strategies.

The three (3) Steering Committees shall consist of elected representatives of the Member Municipalities as appointed by the Board of Directors:
- 1 Member of Council, Economic Prosperity Steering Committee
- 1 Member of Council, Regional Servicing and Calgary Metropolitan Plan Implementation Steering Committee
- 1 Member of Council, Transportation and Mobility Steering Committee

1. 2002 November 25, IGA2002-44 Adopted; the Recommendation contained in Planning and Transportation Policy Report IGA2002-44, Update on the Calgary Regional Partnership: Regional Vision and 2003 Business Plan, from the Intergovernmental Affairs Committee, dated 2002 November 06.
2. 2003 December 08, IGA2003-53 Council approved Calgary Regional Partnership's 2004 Business Plan.
3. 2007 February 26, IGA2007-01 Resolution requested to ratify the new vision and mission statement for CRP.
4. 2007 June 08 Approved "Terms of Agreement for Working Together: A committment to develop a Regional Land Use Plan for the Calgary Region".
5. 2009 June 09 Ratified Calgary Metropolitan Plan (CMP).
6. 2013 October 21, Bylaw 40M2011 coming into force. To discontinue the use of the title "Alderman" in favour of the title "Councillor".
7. 2018, February 28 On January 1, 2018, the Government of Alberta created a new regulated entity, the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board (CMRB), which will be responsible for planning in the Calgary Region. As a result, the Calgary Regional Partnership, a collaboration of 11 municipalities in and around Calgary Alberta, has decided to voluntary wind down and close operations effective February 28, 2018.
